Possibly an alternate spelling to 'Hewson'. According to the Dictionary of American Family Names, it could be English, Scottish or Irish in origin. In English it is chiefly from Lincolnshire and patronymic from Hew (Hugh). In Scottish and Irish, it is an anglicized form of Gaelic Mac Aodha (McCoy). Distribution of Heuson families from England and Wales in 1891 from Ancestry.com show most Heuson's (Hewson's) were in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, London and Lancashire.
